Like many people, my husband and I didn’t realize how many people were affected by food allergies until it touched our own family. Our oldest daughter Meredith was diagnosed with severe food allergies at 6 months of age, and our youngest daughter Abby was placed on a restrictive diet soon after she was born. We searched for allergen free food and snack alternatives, but found they were severely lacking in taste and texture. As a result, Meredith usually ate something different from the other children at snack time or at birthday parties.
As Meredith grew older, she became aware that she wasn’t getting the same foods as everyone else. I developed these recipes with the goal of making them safe for my children, but so delicious that everyone would want to eat them. That way, my daughters could have the sense of belonging that every child longs for when growing up. I’ll never forget the look on Meredith’s face the first time I gave her one of my allergen free cookies and she exclaimed, “We’re all eating the same cookie!” She had the biggest smile on her face. At that moment, I knew I wanted to share my recipes, and this experience, with other families like mine.
With the support of my husband, we founded Meraby Company™. Because Meredith and Abby were the inspiration for the business and the recipes, we thought it was appropriate that the company bear their name. Building this business has truly been a labor of love, and we hope that your “Allergy Family™” enjoys these foods as much as ours!
